Islam, The Only Solution For Humanity!

Muslims in the West

Islam is Europe's fastest growing religion. The United Kingdom exhibits one of the world’s greatest religious diversity. Because of the religious liberty and immigration from all around the world, British Islam is one of the most diverse in the world. Today, it is currently the second largest religion in the country, and has higher attendants at its Mosques than its Churches. The UK has a long history of contact with Muslims, Islam has been known in Britain for a long time; there are references to Islamic scholars in the prologue to Chaucer's Canterbury Tales (1386). Britain was friendly with some Islamic countries, for example Queen Elizabeth I asked the Ottoman Sultan Murad for naval assistance against the Spanish Armada. The first recorded Englishman to become a Muslim was John Nelson, who converted to Islam in the 16th Century. A 1641 document refers to "a sect of Mahomatens" being in London. There were also conversions to Islam during the period, and a few years later, in 1649 came the first English translation of the Holy Qur'an, by Alexander Ross. In the 18th and 19th Centuries there were a number of converts to Islam amongst the English upper classes, including Edward Montagu, son of the ambassador to Turkey.

The first large group of Muslims in Britain were sailors recruited in India, to work for the East India Company. Therefore it's not surprising that the first Muslim communities were found in port cities and towns, such as Cardiff, Liverpool, South Shields, Hull, and London. Ships' cooks came too, many of them from Sylhet in Bangladesh. There are records of Sylhetis working in London restaurants as early as 1873. A wave of Muslim immigration followed the opening of the Suez Canal in 1869. The increase in trade caused a demand for men to work in ports and on ships. In the 19th Century Yemeni men came to work on ships, forming one of the country's first Muslim communities. Permanent communities formed and significant communities are present with links to Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Islam also is growing in the UK through conversions, each year thousands of people convert to Islam in the country. Wales and Cardiff also have a long established Muslim population, who settled in the city during the 19th century. The first mosque in the UK opened in 1860, in Cardiff (Al-Manar Islamic Centre). Cardiff is now home to over tens of thousands of Muslims from many different nationalities and backgrounds. The diversity of Cardiff's population means that a large number of languages are spoken within the city. Studies have found that Cardiff has speakers of over 100 languages, with Somali, Urdu, Hindi, Bengali and Arabic being the most commonly spoken foreign languages.

Muslim population in the UK in 2010 was about 2.8 million

Muslim population in Europe in 2007 was about 53 million

Western Culture

Living in a society in which people have accepted western lifestyle as their own way of life brings immorality at every step. It is a society where the forbidden is easy and the righteous is made difficult. Modesty, shame and honour seem to have no place in western civilisation. Today, Muslims too are increasingly banishing their modesty of which Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam said: “Modesty is part of Iman.” Many Muslims who are so called ‘religious’ are also the victims of immoral acts and the evils of this immodest society, i.e. alcohol, drugs, adultery, fornication, etc. A Muslim should realise that these acts bring the displeasure of Almighty Allah and their consequences are severe in this world and in the next.

One of the most common of these evils is adultery and fornication. The committing of adultery is from the category of major sins. The Shari’ah not only prohibits the ultimate evil of adultery, but all means leading to this evil act. Allah ta’ala says in the glorious Qur’an: “Do not come near to adultery, indeed it is a shameful deed and an evil way.” (Qur'an 17:32) This verse is an eloquent expression of the prohibition of the ways and acts which are introductory to adultery. Thus adultery as well as all the approaches to it are forbidden. A Hadith on this says: “The adultery of the eyes is evil looks. The adultery of the feet is to walk towards the sin. The adultery of the tongue is lustful talk. The adultery of the heart is the evil desire and in the end the sexual organs testify all this or deny it.”

The Qur’an condemns this evil act which ruins families, destroys household peace, breaks friendship and strikes at the root of pure and pious living, and also prescribes exemplary punishment for it. Allah ta’ala says: “The women and man guilty of fornication, flog each of them with a hundred lashes: let not compassion move you in their case, in a matter prescribed by Allah, if you believe in Allah and the Last Day: and let a party of the believers witness their punishment.” (Qur'an 24:2)

In another verse Allah ta’ala says: “ Those (are the servants of the Most Gracious Allah) who invoke not, with Allah, any other god; nor take the life which Allah has forbidden except for just cause; nor commit adultery; and whoso does this, shall meet the punishment. The punishment will be doubled for him on the Day of Resurrection, and he will dwell therein disdained forever.” (Qur'an 25:68-69)

The punishment for these acts are also severe during this life, Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam has said: “When an unmarried male commits adultery with an unmarried female they should receive one hundred lashes and excile for one year, and in case of married male committing adultery with a married female, they should be stoned to death.” In another Hadith Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam has said: “When a person commits adultery, Iman comes out from him and it stays like an umbrella over his head; and when he stops committing adultery, iman returns to him.”

The great mufassir Ata Ibne Abi Rabah under the tafseer of the verse, “It (Hell) has seven doors…”, states: “The most severe of these doors, from the point of grief, heat, punishment and bad smell, is for those people who committed adultery after having knowledge (of it being a sin and haram). There are many effects and consequences of these acts, Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam has said: “Avoid adultery/fornication, for it has six effects; of these three are experienced in this world and the other three in the hereafter. The three experienced in this world are:

  • Noor (lustre) vanishes from the faces of adulterers
  • It brings poverty and famine
  • The life span is reduced (AIDS?)

The three experienced in the hereafter are:

  • Allah ta’ala subjects the adulterers to His Anger
  • They will be subjected to strict reckoning on the Day of Judgement
  • They will be cast into Hell.

The aforementioned verses and the Hadith of Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam are explicitly clear that this evil act of adultery/fornication is harmful both in this world and the everlasting life hereafter. We are living in a society where temptations dominate every individual, and the protection from such temptations is taqwa, and taqwa is acquired through obedience to Allah and His Rasool sallallahu alayhi wasallam. A person who obeys Allah and controls his/her desires, will be deserving of the following promise made by Allah’s truthful messenger sallallahu alayhi wasallam: “Whosoever gives me the guarantee of safeguarding his tongue and his private parts, I give him the guarantee of Paradise.”

My dear brothers, sisters and others interested in Islam, there is a saying in Arabic, ‘Youth is a branch of insanity.’ This is a very crucial and critical stage of a growing child, who may be attracted to many evils leading in different directions. A person who fights temptations of youth and fulfils the Commands of Allah, he will be protected under the shade of Allah’s Throne on the Day of Qiyamah. As a final point I tell you the following that Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam has said: “Allah will shelter seven (categories of) people under His Shade. (They are:) a just ruler; a young man who passed his youth in the worship and service of Allah – the Lord of honour and glory; one whose heart is perpetually attached to the masjid; two such persons who loved each other for the sake of Allah, they joined together for His Sake and parted for His Sake; a man who is invited (for sin) by a beautiful women of a high status (and he declined), saying: I fear Allah; one who spent in charity in a secret way (without making a show), so that his left hand did not know what his right hand spent; and one who remembered Allah in solitude and tears flowed from his eyes.”

Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam has prescribed a remedy for those who are concerned and wish to abstain from this heinous crime. He said: “O group of youths, whosoever amongst you has the means of getting married, should do so because it lowers the gaze and protects the private parts; and whosoever does not have the ability, should fast, for indeed, it is a protection for him.” May Allah ta'ala safeguard us from all evils, give us the ability to obey His Commands, and resurrect us on the Day of Judgement amongst the followers of Rasoolullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam under His throne.

There seems to be a phenomenon floating around, this phenomenon of 'moderate' Muslims, and 'moderate' Islam. These terms are applied by some to Muslims who adopt a secular political view point rather than an Islamic one based on the Qur'an and Sunnah. Indeed these terms have very little to do with Islam. To put it simply, this term 'moderate' Muslim simply means a sell out Muslim, a fake Muslim, a person who is simply Muslim by name and not by heart, and these terms are nothing but a corrupt version made by sell outs to please their own desires, and to please the desires of Christians, Jews, Atheist, Secularists and Westerners. These so called Muslims who call themselves moderate are diluting their faith and belief to cater for the society, culture and beliefs of Non-Muslims.

Moderation is a good thing with regards to eating, drinking, sleeping and practising religion etc, however, the more pious and devout you are, then the better. Why moderate and hold yourself back from being as good of a Muslim as you can be, these perhaps westernised Muslims are truly confused and need to go back to the pure form of Islam. Muslims who call themselves moderate Muslims, or ascribe themselves to what is called modern Islam are becoming a new group or sect of Islam, and are going away from the true Muslim nation.

"These are nothing but names which ye have devised, ye and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority (whatever). They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own souls desire! - Even though there has already come to them Guidance from their Lord!" (Qur'an 53:23)

Other than calling themselves moderate Muslims, they ascribe themselves to what is called modern Islam, another act of innovation, which supposedly reforms Islam to suit modern times and needs. This is totally contrary to Islamic teachings which are for all times. These moderates are essentially forming a religion which is going away from Islam, and has less to do with Allah and true Islam. Such moderate Muslims have several kufr (disbelieving) beliefs in their aqeedah (principles of faith/fundamentals). For one, they are against sharia law, and call for religion and politics to be separated, although this is something called and legislated for in the Noble Quran, and therefore they think that the law God has given us is not correct and should not be to used:

"It is not fitting for a Believer, man or woman, when a matter has been decided by Allah and His Messenger to have any option about their decision: if any one disobeys Allah and His Messenger, he is indeed on a clearly wrong Path." (Qur'an 33:36)

So note that when Allah and Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم‎ make a decision it is not for a believer to have an option that contradicts that decision, and if one does then he is on the wrong path. The Qur'an is full of laws concerning several aspects of life, such as marriage, divorce, justice etc, and the perfect life-style a Muslim should live. The Sunnah of the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم‎ also does the same; it goes into more specific details on how to conduct yourself on everyday matters. Moderate Muslims call for the exact opposite of this, they say the Shariah has no place in society today and that secularism should rule the society, or that that Shariah needs reform. This contradicts the Quran and the Sunnah, as the Quran says such people are on the wrong path. By denying Sharia law moderates essentially deny the authentic teachings of Islam. Indeed these beliefs have nothing to do with Islam. Thankfully, I do not believe that the majority of Muslims will ever succumb to such deviant beliefs; these moderate Muslims are a minority, a minority who simply compromise their faith in order to please their non-Muslim friends more than their Lord.

"He it is Who has sent down to thee the Book: In it are verses basic or fundamental (of established meaning); they are the foundation of the Book: others are allegorical. But those in whose hearts is perversity follow the part thereof that is allegorical, seeking discord, and searching for its hidden meanings, but no one knows its hidden meanings except Allah. And those who are firmly grounded in knowledge say: "We believe in the Book; the whole of it is from our Lord:" and none will grasp the Message except men of understanding." (Qur'an 3:7)
